Bolaños affirms that King Juan Carlos has no open cases and can return to Spain: "In fact, he returned for a few days"

MADRID, 18 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, affirmed this Wednesday that King Juan Carlos I has no pending case with the Justice in Spain and can return whenever he wants. Thus, he has pointed out that he actually returned a few days and decided to return to his residence in Abu Dhabi.

The minister was thus referring to the visit of Juan Carlos I last May which caused great expectation. The King attended some regattas in Pontevedra and held a meeting with the current monarch Felipe VI in the Zarzuela, before returning to the United Arab Emirates, where he has established his permanent residence.

When asked if it would be better for him to return to Spain, to a discreet and private place, given his advanced age, Bolaños replied that the Government has "little to say" about that decision, which "corresponds to King Juan Carlos", according to He has maintained that now "he has decided to have his residence there", he has pointed out.

The minister has indicated that this type of decision that affects the Royal House, the Executive is limited to accompanying and facilitating the decisions when they are adopted.

"As far as I know, he does not have any open legal proceedings" so "of course he could return, in fact he returned for a few days," Bolaños said.
