Bildu demands to extend the new 'Kitchen' commission to Pegasus and police infiltration among nationalism

Marlaska dissociates herself from 'Mediator' and recalls that the espionage of Bárcenas is "current" because it affects a former PP militant minister

MADRID, 8 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

EH Bildu has questioned this Wednesday in Congress that the Ministry of the Interior led by Fernando Grande-Marlaska has "dismantled the sewers of the State" that operated during the time of the PP and has announced that it will expand the new commission on the 'Kitchen case' to investigate the alleged espionage with the Pegasus program and the infiltration of police in independence movements.

In the control session in the Lower House, Grande-Marlaska has shared the seriousness of the 'Kitchen case' for the 15-year petition of the Prosecutor's Office for the former Minister of the Interior Jorge Fernández Díaz, although he has asked "not to generalize" because in the Currently there is "zero tolerance" for corruption and the Internal Affairs units of both the Police and the Civil Guard have been reinforced.

The deputy of EH Bildu Jon Iñarritu has indicated that "it does not make sense" that agents related to the 'Kitchen case' and the so-called 'Operation Catalonia' are still in their posts, something that Grande-Marlaska has emphatically denied, pointing out that what "doesn't make sense" is making those accusations without proof.

According to the minister, "practically all" of the Prosecutor's Office and the agents of the Security Forces work to help the judges within the parameters of the Rule of Law and with the intention of "getting to the bottom" of any criminal act.

Iñarritu has reminded him of the chats of the former number two of the Interior with the PP Francisco Martínez and the president of the National Court, José Ramón Navarro, whom he has described as "conseillere". In addition, he has doubted that the Interior has applied the recommendations of the two parliamentary investigation commissions on the use of reserved funds, police decorations or "golden destinations" to embassies.

In another response to ERC, highly critical of police infiltration, Grande-Marlaska has insisted on the same idea of defending police and judicial actions by reiterating that Spain is a full democracy and that the Police and the Civil Guard can be any "less crappy" thing, because they are "true professionals".

In addition, to a question from the PP, the Minister of the Interior has denied having leaked information prior to the first arrests in the 'Mediator case', which affects a former deputy of the Canarian PSOE already expelled from the party, known as 'Tito Berni'.

In this sense, he has compared the response of the PSOE with the 'Kitchen case' of alleged espionage with "public media" to the ex-treasurer of the PP Luis Bárcenas. This last case Grande-Marlaska sees as "current" because the Prosecutor's Office requests 15 years in prison for former minister Jorge Fernández Díaz, who is "still a PP militant."

In the control session with the Government, the PP deputy María Zurita has asked if the Government "hid information to minimize damage", assuming that it was aware that the 'Mediator case' involved socialist charges. She has also reminded him of the "tip" to the president of Cantabria, Miguel Ángel Revilla, when his Ministry of Public Works was registered.

"This PSOE, when such serious events occur, asks for the minutes and suspends membership, unlike what happens with the PP," he said about the case of Juan Bernando Fuentes Curbelo. "This Ministry of the Interior is completely different, transparent, it does not use the public media like you", he has told the 'popular'.

"Look at his house, at all the cases of corruption, at the convicted and those who still have pending and those that are current. Because it is current, no matter how much you say no, the theme 'Kitchen'. It is so current that After a serious investigation, the Prosecutor's Office takes the commission of one of the most serious acts of Spanish democracy as very serious, asking for 15 years in prison for a Minister of the Interior who is still a PP militant", Grande-Marlaska has intervened.
