Belarra calls for an end to "tax havens" in the EU to prevent Ferrovial from avoiding the "fair" taxation of Spain

He criticizes that the PSOE does not decide to intervene in the food and mortgage market in the face of the rise in Euribor and inflation

MADRID, 1 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of Podemos and Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, has called for joint measures within Europe to eradicate "tax havens" within the continent and prevent companies like Ferrovial, which has plans to move its headquarters to the Netherlands, avoid the "fair" tax model promoted by the Government.

In statements to 'Cuatro, collected by Europa Press, he pointed out that the transfer plans of this company reveal a clear case of "tax dumping" and advocates working with the rest of the EU countries to prevent this type of tax from being generated. situations

And it is that this phenomenon is detrimental to nations that, like Spain, are advancing towards a "fair" taxation model, which is a "condition of possibility" of financing public services.

"If today we have the public aid that has been deployed, if today we have public health that, despite the many attacks and privatizations that it is receiving, is still a reference in the world thanks to that tax system," the head of Social rights.

Therefore, he has appealed to demand "responsibility" throughout the continent to advance mechanisms against "tax havens" and ensure that "what they have most in Spain pay their due", as they have done with the extraordinary tax on banks and the electric ones.

On the other hand, Belarra has insisted on demanding that the PSOE apply a ceiling to the rise in variable mortgages, given the rise in Euribor, and intervene in the food market either by setting a limit on the maximum price of basic products or subsidizing the shopping basket by 14%, as was done with fuel and that would be complemented by an extraordinary tax on the profits of large supermarkets.

The minister has acknowledged that she is "enormously concerned" by the latest inflation data which, in her opinion, shows that the VAT cut on certain foods is "insufficient" and additional measures are required.

In his opinion, the best strategy would be to emulate the gas cap for food, which has proven to be an effective initiative, which all of Europe now wants to emulate and which is also "free" for public coffers.

And it is that he has defended that capping the price of the basic shopping basket is perfectly legal, as stated in the Retail Trade Law, and the state must react to the large supermarkets, which he has branded as "authentic robbers of the people's pockets" to raise their windfall and undeserved profits.

Therefore, and given this relevant increase in prices, he has demanded that the Government must act and that "they cannot wait any longer" for the PSOE to think about it, since it is "taking a long time" to make its proposals.

In fact, he has launched to the Socialists that if they do not want to run into the shopping basket, there is the way of the bonus that his partner promoted in the case of fuel last year and for which it is only required to have "political will" .

Finally, he has claimed that the Government must intervene in the markets to "tip the balance" in favor of the social majority and that the benefits do not affect the usual ones, the electric companies and the large food distributors.
