Belarra assures that the ERC proposal on the referendum is "perfectly legitimate"

The Minister for Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, Ione Belarra, assured this Wednesday that the ERC proposal to bring the request to hold a referendum to the Dialogue Table with the central government is "perfectly legitimate".

"It is perfectly legitimate for a democratic force to make a political proposal. In that sense, maximum respect for that proposal that ERC has made, our position is public and known," the minister said in an interview on TVE, collected by Europa Press.

Thus, when asked about the possibility of an agreed referendum being held, Belarra pointed out that it is something that "must be discussed" and that "it is very legitimate to raise it at a negotiating table," she emphasized.

In this sense, he pointed out that taking into account the week in which we find ourselves "it is a good moment to value all the path traveled up to here" and how the situation was five or six years ago "with a process of judicialization of a political conflict because they did not sit down to talk and did not want to hear the reality of the country, which is a multinational country".

Although she did not want to go into details of how this referendum would be agreed upon and where it would take place, the minister has assured that "all political proposals will be discussed as it cannot be otherwise."
