BBVA records a quarterly record in sustainable financing, with 14,500 million euros, 50% more

MADRID, 4 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

BBVA has registered a quarterly record in sustainable financing, allocating 14,500 million euros between April and June, 50% more than in the same period of the previous year, as reported in a statement.

Since 2018, the bank has financed a total of almost 112,000 million euros and has thus exceeded half of its commitment until 2025 set at 200,000 million euros.

Of the almost 112,000 million euros that BBVA has channeled since 2018, 77% has been allocated to climate change and 23% to inclusive growth.

72% of the financing went to loans, 19% to bonds, 4% to investment funds, and 5% to project financing. By segments, 65% was channeled to the group's wholesale businesses (CIB); 19% to companies, 11% to retailers and 5% channeled through the BBVA Microfinance Foundation.

In climate change, as of June 30, 2022, BBVA has particularly highlighted the good performance of retail financing related to energy efficiency ('green' mortgages, solar panels and efficient appliances), which has tripled in this quarter compared to the same quarter of last year.

The entity has also highlighted the figures provided by Turkey, which doubles its mobilization in energy efficiency compared to the previous quarter of 2022.

Retail financing related to sustainable mobility, with financing lines for the acquisition of hybrid and electric vehicles, has grown by 67% compared to the previous quarter. In this sense, BBVA has highlighted the "fundamental" role of Colombia by channeling more than a quarter of this total.

In financing companies in sustainable mobility, BBVA Mexico multiplies its figures by seven compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

In inclusive growth, the bank has highlighted the financing of inclusive infrastructures, such as non-polluting collective transport, social housing or health infrastructures, where Spain has an approximate contribution of 90% of the total.
