Aíto García Reneses: "If Marc Gasol trains well, I will count on him"

"My passion is basketball and I am excited to train Bàsquet Girona"

The new coach of Bàsquet Girona, Aíto García Reneses, assured in his presentation with the recently promoted Endesa League that he has Marc Gasol --founder, president and player-- if he "trains well", he assured in a relaxed tone.

"If he trains well, I'll count on him. If he doesn't train well, there will be no choice but to put him on the bench," said García Reneses in Fontajau, in front of who is its president and, at the moment, a player.

It is not yet official that Marc Gasol will continue to be active for one more season and can defend --due to a regulatory problem with the acb-- the interests of his team, as he did last year as the key man, now in the Endesa League .

With or without Marc Gasol, Aíto assured that he returns to the ring and to the Endesa League with enthusiasm. "When they made me the proposal, I thought that one of my passions, if not the only one, is being related to basketball. I'm excited to coach Bàsquet Girona", he was honest.

An illusion that he also sees on the street. "The illusion is clearly very good. In every team that manages to climb, its fans are very focused on the cause. I perceive it in the street with the people, waving and showing enthusiasm for what has been achieved," he acknowledged.

"Many times the pressure can with the teams. We have to think about playing to the maximum of our possibilities and that it improves every month. The classification is secondary", he contributed in terms of the objectives that are marked.

For his part, the sports director of Bàsquet Giroan, Jordi Plà, assured that the arrival of Aíto will help them in several aspects. "We believe that he will not only help us at first-team level but also help us to grow collectively throughout the club," he noted.

"Aíto has always trained top-level teams with a didactic, competitive capacity, demanding with the player and constantly growing at the time of developing the player and therefore the team", highlighted the veteran coach.
