At least two people have died and 20 more have been injured, nine of them seriously, as a result of a missile attack perpetrated on Monday on a shopping center in the Ukrainian town of Kremenchuk, according to a first balance from the authorities.

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has reported on Telegram that there were more than a thousand people inside these facilities, which would anticipate a high number of victims. Likewise, he has released images of the establishment on fire and with intense smoke as an example of the destruction.

The president has regretted that Russia has again bombed an enclave without military interest of any kind, where hundreds of people tried to lead "a normal life" outside the conflict. "The number of victims is impossible to imagine," he added.

A spokesman for the presidential office, Kirilo Timoshenko, has put the provisional balance of victims at two dead and 20 injured, although "the rescue operation continues." The Ministry of the Interior has shared images of people trying to flee from the flames.
