At least three people die and dozens are injured when a train derails in Germany

MADRID, 3 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

At least three people have died and sixty have been injured when a passenger train derailed in southern Germany on Friday.

The German police have reported that they have recorded at least 60 injuries, of which 16 are serious. The victims are "of all ages", because this Friday the school holidays began.

The train was traveling to Munich when it left the tracks for unknown reasons, Stefan Sonntag, a police spokesman, told the German news agency DPA.

According to the German newspaper 'Bild', police and fire services are at the scene. Three rescue helicopters from Austria are participating in the operation.

The local service of the German train company, DB Regio Bavaria, has reported through its Twitter account that the track will be closed and that alternative transport is being planned.
