Asens (UP) warns ERC that his government in Catalonia "has its days numbered" if it does not reach agreements with the PSC and 'commons'

Proclaims that it is the end of the unity of action of the independence forces

MADRID, 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the United We Can parliamentary group in Congress, Jaume Asens, has stated that the new ERC Government is the "weakest" in the history of Catalonia and that "its days are numbered" if it is not capable of reaching agreements of permeated with the progressive forces, that is, with the PSC and the 'commons'.

In fact, he has predicted that the rupture of ERC and Junts supposes "the end of the procés" as a synonym of the block unity of the independence forces and to explore, on the part of the Republicans, a stage of negotiation with socialists and purples.

In statements to RNE, collected by Europa Press, he has opined that it is not the time for early elections because the "election scenario is always the worst", especially in a context of "crisis" and "uncertainty" such as the current one.

However, he has also criticized that these two years of legislature have been marked by a Government between the Republicans and Junts that has been "disoriented" and with its members devoting "a lot of energy" to internal conflicts between the partners, which has only led to approve a law, that of the Budgets, because the 'commons' insisted on it.

This scenario shows, in his opinion, that instability has prevailed in Catalonia and now, with the ERC Executive alone with independent directors, an "even weaker" Government is reached, which gathers the support of only 33 deputies with the that "no party is leaving" if a stable and progressive majority is not negotiated with the arch of the left.

In this way, the leader of En Comú Podem has been very critical of the intention of the Catalan president, Pere Aragonés, to extend the regional public accounts and not try to achieve a new agreement on budgets, which is the most important tool of a executive to deploy policies.

At this point, Asens has pointed out that the 'commons' do not consider entering the Executive but they put on the table, as at the beginning of the legislature, that there is a parliamentary majority to the Junts that is "viable". Therefore, he has again urged Aragonés to "look to his left" in search of parliamentary support and that saying that he wants to extend budgets is "a sign that he is going in a direction that no longer works in Catalonia".

And it is that the president of the confederal group in Congress has proclaimed that "the bloc policy no longer works in Catalonia" and that it is the "end of the procés", understood as the unity of action of the pro-independence forces.

Regarding the signing as counselor by Aragones of Gemma Ubasart, who was general secretary of Podem Catalonia and member of the state leadership of Podemos, Asens has considered that it is one more movement in "partisan and electoral logic", given that transversality does not It is demonstrated with executive profiles but by the ability to achieve broad consensus.

Therefore, he has warned the Catalan president that a "new stage" is opening and that his executive is very far from the majority of the chamber, so he must sit down to negotiate with other progressive forces to draw what the left wants until the end of the legislature.
