Asens (UP) does not rule out supporting an investigation commission on 'Mediator' but will oppose it if the PP promotes it

The president of the United Podemos parliamentary group in Congress, Jaume Asens, has affirmed that the PSOE is acting with "speed" and "exemplary" in the 'Mediator' case, although as events evolve they do not rule out the option of supporting a commission of investigation, but in no case will they do so if it is promoted by the PP.

In statements to TVE, collected by Europa Press, he has admitted that his formation is concerned about this case but also criticizes that the PP is using this plot to "divert" attention from its corruption, as in Kitchen.

In fact, it has advanced that the confederal group "is not going to play along" with the PP and will not support any initiative promoted by the popular, although it agrees with its leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo that 'Mediator' is the typical "shabby" case of paradigmatic corruption of "bipartisan" Spain.

However, he has contrasted the forcefulness of the PSOE with respect to the attitude of the PP, arguing that the main defendant in the Kitchen case is the former Minister of the Interior Jorge Fernández Díaz who still belongs to the party, while the Socialists have expelled the former deputy Juan Bernardo Fuentes.

Moreover, the also leader of En Comú Podem has accused the PP that Kitchen makes it synonymous with "dirty war", of "sewer" and of not hesitating to use power in an "illegal and criminal" way to persecute the political adversaries, something that is also relatively recent because it occurred in the stage of popular ex-president Mariano Rajoy.

Likewise, Asens has stressed that the PSOE has promised to show forcefulness within the party in the face of any suspicion of corruption involvement. "We believe that it is acting correctly," he has settled.
