Algeria freezes all foreign trade operations with Spain after breaking the friendship treaty

MADRID, 9 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Professional Association of Banks and Financial Entities (Abef) announced this Wednesday late at night the freezing of direct debits for foreign trade operations of products to and from Spain as of this Thursday, June 9, according to reports ' Tout sur l'algerie'.

The circular does not establish any type of exception for the subject of transactions and, therefore, opens the radius of affectation to all types of sectors, including the energy sector.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, assured this Monday that the Government of Algeria has given "guarantees to the highest novelty" as a "reliable" partner and supplier, in matters such as migration or gas, after that the Maghreb country has suspended its friendship treaty with Spain due to its "unjustifiable" turn on Western Sahara.

"The Algerian government is well known for being a reliable partner, a reliable supplier. Guarantees have been given at the highest level and nothing indicates that it will be otherwise", the minister responded in statements to the media before closing the first day of the III Expansion International Forum in Alcalá de Henares.
