Aleix Espargaró: "It is no longer about being constant but about attacking and risking much more"

MADRID, 13 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) is clear that now that he is 20 points behind the leader of the World Championship, the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), he must stop choosing to be "constant" and go into "attack mode and risk a lot more", starting from this weekend at the Australian Grand Prix.

"It is not easy to attack and not make mistakes, worse is the time to be in attack mode and recover points. 20 is not that much, but in three races it will not be easy and I will give everything. It is no longer about being constant but to attack and risk much more, and I am going to try this weekend," Espargaró warned this Thursday at a press conference.

The Catalan is "very much looking forward to testing the 2022 Aprilia" at Phillip Island. "In the fast circuits like Termas de Río Hondo or Assen and where I don't have to rush the braking so much, it has been very competitive. I like to ride here," he stressed, happy that the new fairing "improves the performance" of his bike.

The third-placed World Cup lamented the "difficulties in the wet" experienced in Thailand. "We improved a bit in the warm up, but in the wet I could fight for sixth or seventh, but the long lap penalty was a shame because I lost a lot of points. Now, I look forward," he said.
