Aleix Espargaró: "I arrive at Montmeló in the best moment of my career"

The Spanish MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia Racing), second in the World Championship, arrives at the Catalunya Grand Prix, which will take place this weekend in Montmeló, "in the best form" of his entire career, and he is clear that although he is going to try to "enjoy it to the fullest", he does not feel "extra pressure" to arrive fighting for everything.

"Always every year the home Grand Prix is ​​special, it is very nice. At the beginning, when you are younger, it is difficult to deal with the pressure, but year after year I try to normalize it and improve in this regard. But this year it is completely different because I arrive in the best shape of my career, fighting at the top and it's fantastic. I'm going to try to enjoy it to the fullest, working hard from FP1 to prepare the bike and have a good show on Sunday", declared Aleix Espargaró this Thursday at a press conference.

The Catalan does not feel "extra pressure" to arrive fighting for victory but "quite the contrary". "I felt it when I came here 12th in the world and I was fighting for podiums and I crashed because the bike wasn't ready," he said.

"This year I don't have that pressure, it's the opposite, I have no doubt that the bike is going to be competitive here and that I'm going to be competitive here, so I'm going to try to keep my feet on the ground but enjoy myself to the fullest. ", explained the eldest of the Espargaró brothers.

The one from Granollers does not see much difference between circuits because "more or less the bike works anywhere", although he did use the example of Mugello, where he lapped behind Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) and finished third. "Here, changes of direction and engine performance are very important. Each circuit has its strengths and weaknesses, but I think the RSGP (his bike) fits this circuit very well," he stressed, noting that Francesco's Ducati Bagnaia and Enesa Bastianini will do well "because they are very strong from the rest of the races."

Aleix Espargaró will wear a special helmet during the race, pink and with the inscription 'Coral Family', in relation to the fact that "four years ago, during this Grand Prix" his twins were born and his daughter had to undergo surgery "two times".

"I have suffered a lot, but thanks to 'Coral Family', the group of doctors that made it all possible, because I have the feeling that now I have a great impact on society, so it is my way of thanking them and paying tribute to them. Mia is too young to realize this, but thank you so much to the doctors and the 'Coral Family,' this is my way of paying tribute."
