Alegría justifies the expulsion of Leguina for his support for Ayuso and predicts that he will be "calmer" outside the PSOE

MADRID, 7 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PSOE spokesperson and Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría, justified this Wednesday the suspension of membership of the former president of the Community of Madrid Joaquín Leguina for his support for the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and has predicted that he will be " calmer" outside the PSOE.

"When you voluntarily opt to be part of a political party, you know that there are rights and duties and when you campaign for a person from the PP, in this case in April-May 2021 for Mrs. Ayuso, you know that this takes a process of expulsion", has transferred in an interview on TVE, collected by Europa Press.

Alegría has admitted that "it is never a gratifying process" to expel a person from a political party, at the same time that he has pointed out that Leguina "has had all this year to present the allegations that he has considered appropriate."

In any case, the head of Education has pointed out that, based on the statements made in recent months by the president of the Madrid region between 1983 and 1995, she has "the impression that it will be calmer outside the PSOE."

The PSOE opened an expulsion file for Leguina and also for Nicolás Redondo Terreros on May 6, 2021, after the autonomous elections for the Community of Madrid, on the understanding that both had requested the vote for the president of the community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, whom they accompanied in an act of the campaign for the regional elections on May 4. The decision was adopted at the meeting of the Federal Executive of the Socialists after these elections.

However, in September of last year, Redondo Terreros's file was filed because the party understood that he had not requested the vote for the PP. At that time, the former Basque socialist leader considered that his party's decision to archive the file "strengthens a wide margin of discrepancy within the PSOE," as he declared to Europa Press.

But the file against Joaquín Leguina continued its course and the former president of the community of Madrid received a burofax from the Post Office yesterday at his home stating that he has been suspended from militancy, as he himself has specified in statements to Europa Press.
