Alegría insists that reforming sedition is a government commitment and nothing has changed neither yesterday nor a month ago

The Minister of Education and Vocational Training and spokesperson for the Federal Executive of the PSOE, Pilar Alegría, has insisted today that reforming the crime of sedition is a Government commitment and that nothing has changed neither yesterday nor a month ago in this regard . For this reason, she has accused the PP of "breaching" the Spanish Constitution after suspending negotiations this Thursday to renew the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and has accused its president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, of giving in to pressure from the right .

"I regret that Mr. Feijóo has not withstood the pressure of this most conservative, most recalcitrant right, of those powerful ones who ultimately do not stand for elections," he lamented in an interview on Catalonia Ràdio this Friday collected by Europa Press.

He has defended that the PSOE is committed to the reform of the CGPJ and that --in his words-- he has always maintained the same position, whether in the Executive or in the opposition: "There is no alternative to the blockade", he has settled.

For this reason, he has considered one more "excuse" the demands of the 'popular' to jointly address any reform of the Penal Code, among which he has included those that affect the crimes of rebellion and sedition.

He has maintained that in the Executive they continue to be committed to these changes -as from the beginning of the Legislature, in his words- although he has insisted on the need to have parliamentary majorities for it: "There has been no change not even this week, neither two weeks ago, nor a month ago", he defended.
