MADRID, 10 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Aldi has expanded its assortment of almonds of national origin and has incorporated the comuna variety into its assortment of its own brand, mainly from suppliers in the Valencian Community and Andalusia, as reported in a statement.

Specifically, the supermarket chain offers around 95% of the almonds in its own-brand assortment of national origin, with the Marcona and Soleta varieties as some of the most outstanding.

During 2021, it bought more than 50 tons of Marcona almonds, mostly from the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia. It is a variety of almond considered the 'gold nugget' due to its importance and value in the market.

During the past year, the supermarket chain also acquired about 40 tons of solita almonds from suppliers mainly in Aragon and Catalonia.

For its part, the common almond is a variety of almond that is incorporated into the assortment of the supermarket chain's own brand. This variety is a mixture of different high-quality almonds, such as guara and garrigues, among others.

In this way, Aldi maintains its commitment to the national product and, for this reason, establishes long-term relationships of trust with its more than 400 suppliers in the country.

Specifically, 80% of the company's assortment is a product produced and cultivated in national territory.

All of Aldi's own brand almond suppliers are BRC and/or IFS certified for food safety. In addition, the company carries out weekly quality controls to ensure that the required organoleptic and quality standards are met.
