Alcaraz starts on the fast track in Paris

The Murcian enters strongly and meets Ramos in the second round

Munar and Zapata also overcome the debut, farewell for Davidovich and Taberner

MADRID, 22 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz entered into action this Sunday at the Roland Garros tournament with a solid victory (6-4, 6-2, 6-0) against the Argentine Juan Ignacio Lóndero, to meet in the second round with his compatriot Albert Ramos , also a winner together with Jaume Munar and Bernabé Zapata, while Alejandro Davidovich and Carlos Taberner said goodbye.

Alcaraz started as a favorite in Paris, gradually undermining the resistance of his rival. Despite the fact that he is only playing his sixth 'Grand Slam', the Murcian leads the pools, along with Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic, at 19 years old. The recent champion in Madrid carburized little by little in the first set, which he signed up for the rest in the tenth game.

Lóndero remained on his feet, but when the important moment of the second set came, the Murcian stepped up the pace and achieved two breaks. The Argentine threw in the towel, or rather was overwhelmed in the third set with a donut from an Alcaraz who, in his meteoric rise and progression, seeks to become 'big' in Paris.

The one from El Palmar will meet in the second round with a Ramos who scored a hard-fought debut against the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis (6-4, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(5)). In addition, Munar also surpassed his debut at the expense of the German Daniel Altmaier, another difficult clash for the Spanish (6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3). The Spaniard will now have a demanding second round against the Argentine Diego Schwartzman.

Meanwhile, Zapata achieved a great victory in three sets (7-6(7), 6-3, 7-5) against the American Michael Mmoh, his second victory in a 'Grand Slam' after surpassing last year the first round of the USOpen. The bad news for Spanish men's tennis on the first day in Paris was Davidovich and Taberner.

The man from Malaga, who defended the quarterfinals last year, lost (2-6, 6-0, 6-4, 6-3) against the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor, an unexpected early exit for the finalist in Monte Carlo. Meanwhile, Taberner, who was looking for his first win in the Paris main draw, started well but lost in four sets against Croatian Borna Coric (3-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-1).
