Albares assures that relations with Brazil will be relaunched after Lula's "incontestable" victory

MADRID, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, assured this Monday that relations with Brazil are going to be relaunched after the "incontestable" victory of the left-wing candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who has been imposed by a narrow margin to his rival and current Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro.

In an interview on Radio Nacional, collected by Europa Press, the minister pointed out that Spain's relations with the Brazilian country during the Bolsonaro administration have not deteriorated, but that now "they are going to take on a new impetus".

"The Government of Spain tries to have the best possible relationship with all the governments of Latin America, but there is no doubt that with Lula we have a very clear common agenda, which is that search for social justice and progress, that defense of biodiversity and fight against climate change", he transferred.

The minister has assured that Spain will support Brazil in this common agenda regarding global issues, as well as in its support to unite all of Brazil "under these objectives and, of course, in that fight that he (Lula) has against hunger and poverty.

In this key, Albares has valued the results obtained by Lula that show that "Brazilian democracy is vibrant, it is alive" and that, therefore, the results are "incontestable".

For this reason, he trusts that Bolsonaro will not dwell on the theory of electoral fraud: "Nothing indicates it at this time." He has also pointed out that the Electoral Court has declared the results official and "the whole world" recognizes the results.
