Acciona raises its stake in Nordex to 40% after injecting 140 million in a capital increase

The shares of the German soar 9% on the stock market

MADRID, 27 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Acciona has increased its stake in the German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex by six percentage points, from the previous 33.6% to the current 39.6%, with the rest of the capital in the hands of the market, that is, in free float.

In this way, the Spanish infrastructure and engineering company has increased its control over Nordex through a capital increase, which has involved the disbursement of 139.2 million euros, as reported by the German company.

Acciona has paid 8.7 euros for each of the 16 million new shares it has subscribed, around 10% of Nordex's capital, in line with the market price of its shares the day before the operation.

The company has taken advantage of the fact that Nordex was trading at a low of the last two years to carry out this operation, after the impact that the crisis in raw materials, the war in Ukraine and inflation has had on its operations.

However, this Monday, its shares already registered a revaluation of 9% after 10:00 am, reaching 9.7 euros. In addition, the new securities held by Acciona have the right to collect dividends since last January.

This increase has been carried out within Nordex's strategy of increasing its liquidity and strengthening the company's balance sheet, with the aim of protecting it from the risks of the short-term situation in the sector.

In this regard, he expects demand in the industry to increase significantly in the long term, given the increasingly ambitious net-zero emissions targets and the drive to bring greater energy security and independence from Russia.

"Acciona's commitment is an important pillar of our future business development and this operation is a clear sign of confidence in the tremendous potential of the wind industry and in our company," said Nordex CEO José Luis Blanco.
