Abascal accuses the Government of "presenting the ETA members as victims" in the Democratic Memory Law

MADRID, 5 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has charged this Tuesday against the Government for the agreement with Bildu to carry out the Democratic Memory Law in the Congress Commission, accusing the Executive of Pedro Sánchez of "presenting the ETA members as victims" and of "seeking to impose a Manichaean and fallacious story that limits freedom of expression".

This is how the leader of Vox spoke on Tuesday in a series of messages on his official Twitter profile, collected by Europa Press, one day after the Constitutional Commission of Congress gave the green light to this bill thanks to the votes of favor of Bildu and PNV and the abstention of ERC.

In this context, Abascal has described this bill as "a document agreed with the enemies of Spain and that presents the ETA members as victims and fighters for democracy", assuring that "the obligation of the public powers is to promote harmony, encounter and reconciliation".

Likewise, Abascal considers that "there has never been a consensual account of the Second Republic, the Civil War and the Franco regime." "Neither can there be, nor among historians, who still hold important debates, nor among citizens, each with their particular and impregnable collection of family memories," added the leader of Vox.

For this reason, Abascal has pointed out that "a past as complex" as the one that Spain has, "requires plural, dispassionate and generous approaches".
