A Polish court agrees to extend the provisional prison for the Spanish journalist Pablo González by three months

The regional court of Przemysl, in Poland, which was studying the Prosecutor's request to extend the provisional detention of Spanish journalist Pablo González, has agreed to extend this precautionary measure for three months, sources from the Basque correspondent's defense confirmed to Europa Press.

Pablo González was arrested in Poland on February 28 when he was giving news coverage to the war in Ukraine. This Tuesday, his lawyer, Gonzalo Boye, lamented the news through Twitter and also that his client remains incommunicado. "And he is still incommunicado and without knowing the supposed evidence they would have... they are just trying to bend his will," he pointed out.

Since his arrest, the journalist has been incommunicado in the Rzeswów prison, accused of a crime of espionage that includes section 1 of article 130 of the Polish Penal Code, according to his defense.

That provisional prison has been extended every three months, the last time in June. After his arrest, friends and relatives of the journalist began collecting signatures through Change.org/FreePabloGonzalez to demand "that his rights be respected" and have reached more than 41,500 supporters.

"We ask that their human rights be respected, like those of any citizen: that they be able to communicate with their family, have legal assistance and that their presumption of innocence be respected, among other things," reads the petition on that website.
