80% of Post Office workers on the night shift support the strike, according to the unions

MADRID, 1 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

80% of the Post Office workers on the night shift have supported the first of the three days of general strike called by the UGT and CCOO in the 22 large centers of the postal operator that work on that shift, according to the data provided by both unions to first hour in the morning.

The large Post Office centers that have night shifts (automated treatment centers, logistics centers and the Barajas International Center) are distributed throughout the country, are located in the main cities and are responsible for the classification and transport of postal mail. until its distribution from the Post Office distribution centres.

According to the majority Post Office unions, "the extensive monitoring of the strike on the night shift has caused mail transport routes to the main postal distribution centers to be paralyzed and/or almost completely suspended", which use the overnight transport network so that the mail arrives at the centers first thing in the morning.

UGT and CCOO have called these strike days with the aim of requesting "the cessation of the dismantling of the Post Office and the abandonment of the public postal service", as well as the reversal of the current management model of Juan Manuel Serrano, "raised to the presidency of the company by the Government itself, which endorses and consents to its scrapping policies in the largest public company in the country", they denounce.

Part of the Post Office night shift workers will attend this Wednesday the demonstration that both unions have called in Madrid at 12:00, from Plaza de Callao to the Congress of Deputies.
