Zelensky urges the world to "react" to a video showing the beheading of a Ukrainian soldier

MADRID, 12 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The dissemination of a video that supposedly shows the beheading of a Ukrainian soldier at the hands of Russian troops has generated a wave of condemnations by the Ukrainian authorities and its president, Volodimir Zelenski, has urged the international community to "react" remembering that this is not an isolated case.

The images, released online on Tuesday, show alleged Russian military officers cutting off a man's head with a knife. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has launched an investigation to try to find those responsible, of which no details have been released.

"There is something that the world cannot ignore: how easily these beasts kill," Zelensky cried, in a message condemning the "execution" of a compatriot. For the Russians, "there are no people", but they try to make this type of abuse "the new normal", according to the president.

"Everyone must react. All the leaders. Do not expect it to be forgotten," added Zelenski, who has promised that there will be no forgiveness "for the murderers." In this sense, he has appealed to the "legal responsibility" of the Russian military, in a message in which he has called not only to "defeat the occupier" but also to "sentence the murderers."

"The defeat of terror is necessary," Zelensky has claimed, calling on his international allies to help Ukrainian forces on the battlefield.

For his part, Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba has condemned the "horrible video" and described as "absurd" that Russia, which "is worse than the Islamic State", could be presiding over the UN Security Council this month. . "Russian terrorists must be expelled from Ukraine and the UN and held accountable for their crimes," he added.
