Zelensky monitors the "combat capability" of Ukrainian forces during a visit to Sumi

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, has traveled this Tuesday to the Sumi region, in the east of the country, to supervise the "combat capacity" of the Armed Forces in the framework of the invasion of Russia and to hold a meeting in security matter.

Thus, it has inspected the work of the units of the State Border Service, which operates in the border area with Russia, and has supervised the work of these troops at checkpoints, as indicated by the Presidency in a statement.

Zelenski has taken advantage of the occasion to highlight the "effectiveness of the actions" of the border forces, which have said they are "taking advantage of all the opportunities at their disposal to face the enemy."

In addition, the president has held a meeting with the main senior officials of the Army and the security forces in the region to address the security situation, which for the moment remains "stable and controlled."

For his part, the head of the State Border Service, Sergei Deineko, has indicated that measures have been put in place to strengthen the control and protection of the border.

Zelenski has taken advantage of the visit to award various soldiers for their work in the framework of the invasion, especially for their "heroic defense of the city of Ojtirka after the start of the invasion." "We honor the true Cossack courage and indomitability of our people, our heroes, of all Ukrainian men and women," he said.

"Those who have fought here for our city, our territory, and for our entire State," he pointed out before stating that they have managed to "destroy the Russian convoys and, ultimately, destroy the enemy's plan against Ukraine and his people."

In this sense, he regretted that the city experienced "serious losses in the face of brutal enemy attacks, when Russian forces bombed residential homes and nurseries, as well as other civilian infrastructure."

Among those awarded is the mayor of the city, Pavlo Kuzmenko, who received a medal from the president. "Ukrainians will live here, on their land, in their cities and towns, which have been rebuilt after the war. I am sure that this will happen," he pointed out before guaranteeing that "they will never forget the crimes committed by the Russians."

"Justice is the most important thing we have today, so we must not forget what has happened. We will bring all the murderers to court, the terrorists and the aggressor State as well, and we will not leave a single wound without curing", he stressed.

It has also celebrated the anniversary of the "liberation" of the town of Trostianets from the hands of Russian forces. "The character of Ukraine is the character of its people, who do not accept aggression and do not surrender. It is the character of freedom, which is felt from birth and is not forgotten until the last breath," he concluded.
