Mobile World Congress (MWC) will be held once again in Barcelona to host the latest developments in the technology sector between February 26 and 29, in addition to having the immersive space 'Journey to the Future' and hosting the tenth edition of the 4 Years From Now (4YFN) conference, dedicated to emerging companies.

This year's event will be held at Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue, located in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona). It will host around 2,400 exhibitors and is expected to reach between 95,000 and 96,000 visitors.

Huawei will repeat as one of the largest stands at the fair. There are also new additions such as the operating company China Telecom or the Alipay platform, as detailed in a press conference by the general director of the organizing institution GSMA, Mats Granryd, and the marketing director of the GSMA, Lara Dewar.

Likewise, in this edition around 200 countries will be represented and around 1,100 speakers will participate, of which 40 percent will be women. Among them, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Telefónica, José Maria Álvarez-Pallete; Microsoft President Brad Smith; and the CEO of Vodafone Group, Margherita Della Valle.

On the other hand, for the second consecutive year, the MWC will introduce a space for practical and immersive demonstrations called 'Journey to the Future', in which innovations related to areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality ( AR), robotics and autonomous vehicles,

This space will be located in pavilion 6 of the venue and will address topics related to sustainability, health, mobility and retail. All of this with the intention of showing how companies use technology to create new ways of working and interacting.

Hall 8 will also have an area dedicated to startups with 4YFN, a space dedicated to the development of these emerging companies dedicated to the digital sector, in which various projects will be presented throughout the congress.

Specifically, 4YFN is celebrating its tenth edition and, since its incorporation into the fair venue in the last edition - it was previously held at the Montjuïc venue -, it has expanded its space to more than two floors. In this way, it will collect the ideas and projects of thousands of founders, startups and investors. Last year alone, around 800 exhibitors participated.

Likewise, the fair will host the Spanish Pavilion for the eleventh time (located in Pavilion 4), which will have the presence of 45 co-exhibiting companies, 18 percent more than in 2023, from technological sectors such as artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things or smart cities.

This space is organized by Red.es, belonging to the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service, through the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, and will be a “representation of the high degree of innovation and potential of the business fabric national, in the most relevant event of the digital industry.”

Mobile World Capital Barcelona has promoted a digital talent space, called Talent Arena, which includes sessions with thirty experts, an exhibition area with twenty technology companies and a 48-hour 'hackathon' in which a dozen multidisciplinary teams They will explore "the potential of APIs", whose final and awards ceremony will be on Wednesday, February 28 at 3 p.m.

In addition to the scheduled presentations, other companies such as Google, Qualcomm, Samsung, IBM and AWS will also be present during the fair and will discuss, among other things, their latest innovations in AI, in addition to presenting their latest technologies at their stands. TELECOMMUNICATIONS

Telecommunications companies also have a leading role in the fair. Telefónica, Orange and Vodafone announced in early February two new services designed to help developers combat online fraud and protect the digital identities of mobile customers, which will be available starting at MWC.

For its part, Vodafone will present its new solution for extended reality (XR) devices HyperRealityHub, a lightweight headset that supports shared immersive experiences for businesses and consumers.
