Vox warns that it wants to repeal the Gender Violence Law and change it for a law for the protection of women and families

MADRID, 19 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The political spokesman for Vox, Jorge Buxadé, has insisted this Monday that gender is an "ideological" concept and has announced that he wants the repeal of the Law on Gender Violence to replace it with a "comprehensive law for the protection of women and families."

At a press conference, Buxadé has denounced "the attacks" that he assures that Vox is receiving after the "moderate and balanced" agreement signed with the Popular Party in the Valencian Community, where the concept of gender violence is not included and instead talks about domestic violence.

Like the president of the party, Santiago Abascal, Buxadé has claimed that gender is "an ideological concept" and therefore the repeal of the Gender Violence Law is among his demands for the formation of a future government.

In return, he has read one by one the twelve measures published this Monday by the party to combat "violence against women" and has argued that these points could become a comprehensive law to protect women and families. "Without penal, civil and administrative measures that do not criminalize a part of the population", she has maintained.

At this point, he has asked the Popular Party "on what they do not agree." What's more, he believes that Vox's position is the one defended by the majority of citizens "when they have coffee in a bar or have dinner with their family" and can be endorsed by PP and even PSOE voters.

In this context, he has announced that Vox will file a complaint with the Central Electoral Board against a TVE program for becoming a "trough of hatred against Vox" and will also take legal action against Tania Sánchez for "insulting and slandering" the party and its followers.

In addition, he regretted that "some" leaders of the PP "have joined this strategy of manipulation." "They will continue to deceive and they will continue to lie, but now our position is black on white and the one that our deputies and representatives of Vox are going to defend in all town halls, autonomous communities and the national parliament," he said of his document, which he considers "a good starting point" for the negotiations with the PP for the formation of governments.
