Vox maintains its deputy in Cantabria after the recount of the CERA vote

SANTANDER, July 28. (EUROPEAN PRESS) -

Vox will maintain the seat achieved in Cantabria after the recount of the votes of citizens residing abroad, which does not modify the distribution of deputies that resulted from the election night of July 23.

Cantabria was one of the territories where the vote of the Census of Absent Residents Abroad (CERA) could change the results obtained on 23J given the little difference in votes between Vox and the PP to achieve the fifth deputy, specifically 428.

However, as party sources have confirmed to Europa Press, Vox will maintain that seat after recounting the ballots of the Cantabrians residing abroad who have voted, which have been more than 3,000.

Thus, the CERA vote does not change the allocation that was known of the five deputies that are distributed in Cantabria, which remains two for the PP, another two for the PSOE and one for Vox.

The recount of these votes by the Provincial Electoral Board of Cantabria has been extended during this day since, although it was scheduled to end early in the afternoon, there has been a delay caused by three boxes that arrived when the count had already begun of ballots.

First thing in the morning, the Board rejected three boxes containing CERA votes because they had arrived late, when the counting of ballots had already begun.

However, the allegations of the political groups present regarding their inclusion were accepted, which has finally occurred, although the count of the more than 3,000 votes of Cantabrians residing abroad has not yet been completed. However, the forecast is that the result will be known this Friday.

The census of Cantabrian voters who vote in other countries is around 40,000. However, participation among this population is usually low, since in the previous 2019 elections only 2,112 of 39,016 voters voted.
