Urbas, through its subsidiary Fortia, has closed the acquisition of two nursing homes, located in Madrid and Burgos, by assuming the liabilities associated with said centers, which amounts to 9.7 million euros, as reported by this Tuesday the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
Through the purchase of these two assets, valued at 10 million euros, Urbas consolidates its national expansion in the geriatric residential sector.
The first of them is located in the Madrid municipality of Valdeolmos-Alalpardo and is now fully operational, with a total of 116 places.
Urbas has reported that this Madrid residence will soon expand its service offering with a specific mental health unit for the elderly, which will be managed by highly qualified medical and care staff.
The second residence acquired by Urbas is located in Roa de Duero, in the province of Burgos, whose construction works have just been completed. The company will launch it in approximately three months, with 91 seats.
In parallel, Urbas has indicated that it is studying new nursing home projects in Andalusia and Murcia, and senior living projects in the Community of Madrid.
All of these operations are part of the investment plan of the 'Healthcare and Services' business area, with which Urbas plans to position itself as one of the main players in the sector, developing and managing more than 10,000 residential and social healthcare places until 2030.
"The Spanish market offers unbeatable opportunities to continue growing sustainably in the segment of nursing homes, 'senior living' and 'senior housing' due to the structural deficit of quality places, the age of the existing stock, the aging of the population and the security of a growing demand", highlighted the president and CEO of Urbas, Juan Antonio Acedo.
As detailed by the company, Spain currently has a deficit of more than 70,000 residential places, which will increase by 11,000 places annually due to demographic evolution.
