UP registers amendments to the 'yes is yes' after failing to reach an agreement with the PSOE to include violence as an aggravating circumstance

MADRID, 10 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Unidas Podemos has registered this Monday in Congress amendments to the Law of 'only yes is yes' after finally failing to reach an agreement with the PSOE for the modification of the norm. The 'purple' proposal is to include violence and intimidation as an aggravating factor and not as a criminal subtype, as the socialists want.

The Government delegate against Gender Violence, Victoria Rosell, has defended the United Podemos amendments as a solution to "improve the application of the law" but "not go back, undo or degrade the consent system" which, as she explained, it was established with the law of 'only yes is yes'.

Rosell sees this "balance" in the reform viable and has recalled that "the feminist and progressive majority" in Parliament that supports the Government is basing its amendments in the same way. In addition, as she has recalled, the international recommendations go in this same direction.

That is why, according to Rosell, Equality sees a final agreement with the PSOE as possible before Thursday in Congress, when the Equality Commission is expected to be held in which these amendments will be voted on for the first time.
