Traffic normalized between Llançà and Portbou (Girona) after controlling the fire

The Bombers maintain 15 endowments and hope that the tramontana will stop this Monday

GIRONA, 7 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Traffic between Llançà and Portbou (Girona) on the N-260 road is back to normal this Monday morning, once the forest fire that has been affecting the area since Friday has been controlled, after having been closed and then with restricted passage only for residents and workers to clear the way for emergency teams.

The deputy chief of the Generalitat Fire Department for the Portbou fire, David Martínez, explained in statements to journalists that since Sunday at 10 a.m. the fire has not resumed at any point.

Since then, the firefighters have been cooling the hot spots that were in the area affected by the fire (573 hectares) and checking the perimeter, which has not increased.

Now the Firefighters will maintain a device with 15 crews spread over three points in the area to continue supervising the fire until it is extinguished.

The firefighters are also attentive to the evolution of the tramontana wind in the area, with the forecast that "throughout today it has to loosen up and at nightfall it would have to stop."

This Monday the Bombers will have the air resources available but not activated because "right now they are not needed, everything is fine, that is why it enters the control phase", but if they are necessary they will be required.

Regarding the factors that have helped to control the fire, Martínez has highlighted that in the area there are vineyards and pasture fields "clean" of vegetation that serve to stop the fire and prevent it from spreading, and when asked about the causes, he replied that For now it does not have any information.
