Artistic students receive a visit from Alegría and Subirats in Aula: "What we do has the same value as a degree"

MADRID, 22 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The 31st edition of the International Student Fair and Educational Offer, Classroom 2023, opened its doors this Wednesday and can be visited until Sunday at Ifema Madrid. On the first day, several students have expressed their concern about the "uncertainty" generated by the new Evaluation of the Baccalaureate for University Access (EBAU) that the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training is preparing.

"It would be good to do the old test because we know what it is. Right now we don't know how we have to study it," Candela Múgica, a first-year Baccalaureate of Technological Sciences student at the Nuestra Señora del Pilar School, assured Europa Press. .

The student explained that they have just found out that in the new test they "remove syntax" in the Spanish Language and Literature exam: "If there is that change, that syntax is a large part of the Language subject, what other changes can there be?, because in the end there is a lot of uncertainty and it would be good to know what it is about before having to do it".

For this reason, the young student has claimed to know what the new university entrance exam consists of in order to prepare herself. "It would be nice to know what it is and from there judge whether the old or the new one is better," she said.

His schoolmate, Carlota Porras, has also regretted that the students have not yet been informed about "what it is like" about the new exam that they will have to take to be able to access the University, although the school is "teaching them very well".

"We are facing uncertainty and the school does everything it can, they have always trained us as if we were going to do the Selectividad and it is very good, but if something is changed, the way of teaching would also have to be changed and they will do it for sure" , said the young woman, who is considering studying Architecture or joining the Armed Forces, which has its own stand at the fair: "I haven't decided yet."

After receiving information on how to enter the National Police, Vera Martínez, 18, and Carla Muñoz and Inés Romero, 17, three students from the IES Jaranda de Jarandilla de la Vera (Cáceres) who have received information about the possibility of study a career and then enter the Police, they have defended that the new EBAU continue the same as it has been up to now: "For us, that the EBAU continue the same as in recent years."

The inauguration of Aula 2023 was attended by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría, and the Minister of Universities, Joan Subirats, who have visited various spaces of the fair and have been able to talk with students of different modalities, such as Artistic Education, Vocational Training or Baccalaureate.

At their first stop, the ministers have seen the performance of about twenty students of Artistic Education. Precisely, the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training is preparing a bill to regulate Higher Artistic Education, which has already been approved in the first round by the Council of Ministers and is expected to be approved in the second round before the end of this month. .

"I hope that in the end these studies have the same recognition as any other, because they are four years like many careers and what we do has the same value as any other type of career," Álvaro, a student at the Royal Higher School of Dramatic Art, after talking with Minister Alegría.

The person in charge of Education, according to the young man, has transferred to the Performing Arts students that he values "a lot" the work they do and that "it was a pleasure" to be able to listen to them. "She has told us that they are changing everything and she has also told us about the new EBAU and the change due to the pandemic, which are gradually improving each year," said Álvaro.

The young man has added that Alegría has spoken to them about the new scholarships "that are coming out and that are already opening up more to the world of arts and interpretation, which did not have so much recognition before." "Now there is much more visibility also in this type of fair so that young people can find the option that they most want to study", he has celebrated.

Within the area occupied by the Ministry of Education on the premises, the ministers have been able to learn about projects by Vocational Training students, such as that of the students of the CIFP Polytechnic of Santiago de Compostela who have placed Alegría and Subirats in front of a chroma and , through the use of the computer, they have been placed in a jungle and in a city next to a T-Rex.

"Alegría has loved our work, she has told us to continue like this and that if we liked technology, go ahead," stressed Marta and Adriana, students of the Computer Telecommunication Systems Cycle, who spoke with the minister about inclusion of women in technology: "She has told us that we are a benchmark and a role model".

In the same space, the minister has put on virtual reality varnishing simulation glasses, which are used to "learn what to do with the wood so that it can last longer without having to spend material and thus not contaminate" .

The simulator, as explained by Antonio and Sara, students of the Higher Design and Furnishing Cycle, consists of virtual reality glasses with a remote control, with which "the product can be applied on a board to learn the technique and movement that must be executed without wasting material or contaminating".

"It's a way to save money to learn what varnishing is. The minister found this technology incredible and she liked this experience. Virtual varnishing has been quite good for her, she has worked hard and I think she has enjoyed it" , have specified the young people.

Subsequently, the minister has chatted with Lidia, a Second Baccalaureate student who has not yet decided whether to study Vocational Training or a Degree, but who is clear that if she decides to go to the University, she will study in a public one despite her "fear" for facing the EBAU, which will also carry it out even if it chooses the FP modality. "Alegría has told me that she hopes that the fair will help me to be able to choose my future a bit," she commented.

"The system is going to change a lot, but we are the last to take the EBAU and the following year is another type of test, so that's fine. I'm going to take the exam they give me, if we prepare well, we prepare for any type of test and if we are good students in the end we will get it with a higher grade", Lidia stressed.

During their visit to Aula, Ministers Alegría and Subirats have received various gifts, such as some towels for the beach or a laboratory plant.

"They have invited us to expose what plant biotechnology is, plant cell cloning, and we are giving away a sample in a tube so that they know how a laboratory plant works. The minister has taken a sample to take care of it at home and have a carnivorous plant later", stated Santiago, who has finished the Higher Cycle of Analysis and Quality Control and has now created a company: "The minister has told us that she is proud that students can go from vocational training to creating a company".

At the U-tad stand, the ministers spent a few minutes talking with its founder, Ignacio Pérez, with whom they reflected on the importance of "promoting digital professions" and that in the area of Engineering the "need for engineers and technicians digital is unlimited", as indicated by the founder of the center.
