The second life of the armored vehicles that the Government will send to Ukraine converted into medical ambulances

Albares visits the Ciudad Real factory on Monday where the process was carried out

MADRID, 6 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government is preparing to soon send to Ukraine two BMR armored vehicles that have been converted into medicalized ambulances by the company Tecnove, in Herencia (Ciudad Real), to provide them with all the equipment to be able to care for the victims of the conflict in this country.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, will visit the company on Monday together with the Ukrainian ambassador to Spain, Serhii Pohoreltsev, to learn first-hand about the process that has allowed these military vehicles to be converted into the ambulances that will now be donated to the country at war.

As diplomatic sources explain to Europa Press, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) acquired two 6x6 medium armored vehicles on wheels (BMR) that had not been put into operation previously and Tecnove has carried out their conditioning and medicalization.

From Foreign Affairs they highlight that the two military vehicles have become "humanitarian vehicles" that once delivered to Ukraine will be able to "care for the wounded and save lives, since in addition to the security provided by the armor, they have Life Support Advanced, but respecting the construction of this vehicle."

The two armored vehicles will allow the transport of several patients with different traumas and care for multiple injured people at the scene of the accident to stabilize them and transfer them to the nearest hospital, the sources have explained.

To this end, they are equipped with "great medical and electromedical equipment" that includes oxygen equipment, immobilization, cardio-respiratory monitors, defibrillator and CPR board, splints and collars.

Likewise, they also have equipment for infusing medications, equipment for transferring patients in different situations - stretcher cart or shovel stretcher to pick up patients from the ground without causing injuries - in addition to the appropriate electrical installation for the use of all the teams.

It was Albares himself who announced the donation of the two armored ambulances on October 2 after the meeting of EU Foreign Ministers held in an extraordinary manner in kyiv.

Then, the minister advanced his shipment, which will be added to the 30 non-armored ones previously contributed during a previous visit to Kiev, and also a contribution of 1.5 million for demining, apart from the 50 million from the AECID destined for humanitarian aid.
