The PSOE proposes Vara for Vice President of the Senate and maintains López and Granados as parliamentary spokesmen

MADRID, 16 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PSOE has chosen the former president of Extremadura Guillermo Fernández Vara as a candidate for vice president of the Senate, where the PP has an absolute majority and will take over the Presidency. In addition, it has decided that Patxi López and Eva Granados repeat in the new legislature as socialist spokespersons in Congress and the Senate, respectively, party sources have confirmed to Europa Press.

It will be this Wednesday when the Federal Executive Commission of the PSOE, which meets from 09:30 a.m., appoints López as spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Congress of Deputies, as well as Granados as spokesperson in the Senate.

The leadership of the socialist party will also propose Vara for the Vice Presidency of the Senate, a senator by autonomous designation after losing the Government of Extremadura in the elections on May 28.

Vara's proposal is known hours after the PSOE announced that the former president of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, will be its candidate for the Presidency of Congress, which will be elected this Thursday, August 17, coinciding with the constitution of both courts after the general elections last July.

After the meeting of the Socialist Federal Executive, at 12:30 p.m., the Socialist leader and acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will have a meeting with the parliamentarians elected for the XV legislature in the Ernest Lluch room of Congress.
