The Superior Prosecutor of the Principality of Asturias, María Esther Fernández García, has recorded all the information available on the forest fires that have been active in the Principality since last night and early this Friday, and which are estimated at more than a hundred, and has given notice to the Delegate Prosecutor for the Environment, María Esperanza González Avella, so that she initiates criminal pre-procedural investigation proceedings with the aim of clarifying the causes thereof and acting against the possible perpetrators, in the cases in which it is a question of intentional fires.
Thus, within the framework of the investigation proceedings initiated, the Forest Fire Investigation Brigades (BRIPA) have been officiated so that, once the extinction work is completed, they send the technical reports on the causes of the fires to the Prosecutor's Office in order to determine whether or not they have been intentional, in which case the perpetrators could face a crime of forest fire and be punished with prison terms, ranging from 1 to 20 years, if there has also been a risk to life or integrity physics of people
Likewise, the Principality of Asturias has been requested to submit the prevention and management plans for the cleaning and conditioning of the Asturian mountains.
