The president of the CGPJ admits the resignation of the progressive member Concepción Sáez

MADRID, 31 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The interim president of the General Council of General Power (CGPJ), Rafael Mozo, has accepted the resignation of the progressive member Concepción Sáez, once appointed at the proposal of Izquierda Unida, which increases the gap between the progressive wing, which remains with seven members --Mozo included--, and the conservative block, with ten.

Sources from the governing body of the judges have confirmed to Europa Press that Mozo has given the go-ahead to Sáez's request that he had on the table since March 13.

The same sources have explained that the decision of the interim president of the CGPJ must be sent to the Ministry of Justice for a Royal Decree to be drawn up, which must be signed by the King and endorsed by Minister Pilar Llop, for its eventual publication in the Official Gazette. of the State (BOE). As they have specified, until then the resignation will not be effective.

The decision takes place after the fact that Sáez's request remained unresolved yesterday, despite the fact that the agenda of the ordinary plenary session held yesterday contemplated the "dating of account" of the individual resignation presented by the member and the "analysis of the current situation" of the CGPJ after the initiative launched by the member Álvaro Cuesta to propitiate an en bloc resignation of the progressive group with which to force the renewal of the Council, pending for four years.

According to the sources of the governing body of the judges consulted by Europa Press, yesterday's debate revolved around the resignation of Sáez, who was met with reproaches from several colleagues who did not see the reasons he gave for his departure as justified.

In the letter sent to Mozo on March 13, which was released last week, Sáez pointed to the "unsustainable" situation of the Council, both due to the interim period it has suffered since December 4, 2018, and internal tensions.

In the opinions expressed yesterday, Thursday, there were nuances, since while some directly criticized his resignation, others disagreed but respecting his freedom to take this step.

From the progressive bloc, some members took advantage of the plenary debate to state what they already said at the meeting last Tuesday --when the collective resignation was ruled out--, that is, that they will not leave office.
