The PP expands the Senate investigation commission to cover matters that affect Begoña Gómez and the Delcy case

The 'popular' rejected a request from the PSOE a few weeks ago to expand the commission based on what the lawyers said.

The PP spokesperson in the Senate, Alicia García, announced this Thursday that her formation will bring to the next Plenary Session of the Upper House an expansion of the purpose of the investigation commission on the Koldo plot to also cover matters that affect the president's wife. of the Government, Begoña Gómez, as well as the Delcy Rodríguez case.

In a press conference from the Senate, the spokesperson for the 'popular' party explained that they will expand the purpose of the investigative commission in the Senate given the latest publications related to the "interconnections" of this plot.

According to the text registered by the PP, they also want this parliamentary investigation to affect the "contacts and businesses with the immediate family environment of the President of the Government, coinciding in time with the approval by the Council of Ministers of two bailouts for Air Europa and to Globalia-Ávoris for a total amount close to 800 million euros".

And they have also expanded the commission to the meeting that took place at the Barajas Airport with the vice president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, "and in which José Luis Ábalos and Koldo García also personally participated."

This expansion of the purpose of the commission arises after the lawyer issued a note last week in which he stated that there were requests for documentation and requests for appearances that went beyond the purpose of the commission.

The PP spokesperson in the Senate has indicated that this extension does not respond to a question of lawyers, but rather it is a "political question." "We want to expand and update the purpose of this commission due to the possible interconnections that there may be in the different ramifications that we are learning about this plot of corruption of the Socialist Party and the Government," she proclaimed.

However, the text drafted by the 'popular' party recognizes that this expansion seeks to "preserve the conditions of legal security in the operation" of any commission.

And the lawyer for the investigation commission issued a note in which he cited three paragraphs of the PP's work plan that went beyond the scope of the investigation commission on this Koldo case.

The PSOE claimed that the lawyer had spoken about deleting those paragraphs and that the only way to continue was to approve a new commission object in plenary, something that will finally be done, although the PP does not specify exactly what facts will be updated.

Likewise, socialist sources assured that the PP forced the approval of its work plan with its representatives last week to "not waste time."

THE PSOE ALREADY REQUESTED THE EXTENSION

A month ago, before voting on the creation of this commission in the plenary session, the PSOE proposed expanding the purpose of the investigation commission to all pandemic contracts by all public administrations, so that this forum would not be limited only to the case. Koldo.

However, the Senate Board, with a majority of the PP, decided not to accept this request to expand the purpose of the investigation commission, based on what the Chamber's lawyers said that it had already been registered.

In any case, the PP will assert its absolute majority in the Senate to finally approve next week the purpose of the investigation commission, although without clarifying what events it will affect and whether it will encircle Pedro Sánchez's entourage.
