The PNV defends that Euskadi contributes to the State above what is proportional, in the face of criticism for the transfer of the SS

The spokesperson in the Senate says that they assume the "risk" of taking charge of the management of Social Security, without breaking the single fund

MADRID, 25 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesperson for the PNV in the Senate, Estefanía Beltrán de Heredia, has defended that the Basque Country is contributing to the State through the quota system "even above" what corresponds proportionally to the population, in the face of criticism that Euskadi is going to assume the management of Social Security, after his party's agreement with Pedro Sánchez.

In an interview with Europa Press, Beltrán de Heredia has rejected those who, in an interested manner, "are conveying a wrong and erroneous idea" that the transfer of the management of Social Security to the Basque Country is going to break the single fund of the contributory pension system.

In this context, the PNV spokesperson in the Upper House has defended that the contribution that Euskadi makes to the State through the quota, which is set at 6.24% per year, is more than the percentage of the population that the Basque Country has with respect to to the rest of Spain, which is around 4.7% approximately. However, different reports and economic entities have denounced the "opacity" of the calculation of the Basque quota.

"How can we be called unsupportive? We are also contributing to the solidarity fund, that has never been questioned in Euskadi, never ever since the assumption of a financial system based on unilateral risk," proclaimed the PNV spokesperson in the High camera.

In any case, Beltrán de Heredia has defended that the transfer of the management of Social Security to the Basque Country, which his party agreed with Sánchez, is included in the Statute of Autonomy and, like the Basque Government's own economic regime, is " assuming a unilateral risk".

For this reason, he has maintained that the transfer will not mean the single fund of the system, so pensions will continue to be paid through this contributory model, although the Basque Government will now control the management of Social Security.

At this point, he referred to those who warn of the risk of doing so at a time when the Social Security stock market is fluctuating: "We are not talking about this, we are talking about management."

The PNV spokesperson in the Senate has also spoken about the PSOE and Bildu pact for the Mayor's Office in Pamplona, ensuring that "in some ways it was very sung" and recalling that these two formations have already signed other agreements in city councils in the Basque Country regarding budgets.

For this reason, Beltrán de Heredia has framed it within "normality" in terms of the search for parliamentary majorities: "It falls within what politics is, the parliamentary sum of majorities."

Regarding the Basque elections that will be held next year, the PNV spokesperson in the Senate has defended her party's pacts with the PSE-EE. "We have a lot of experience of governing together and I understand that if it has worked until now, it doesn't have to work afterwards," she added.

At the same time, he has also commented on the party's decision to dispense with Iñigo Urkullu for these elections, given that he was part of his Government for eight years, defending that his leadership "cannot be questioned at any time", but specifying that This must be understood "within what are the natural processes of party renewal."

The PNV spokesperson in the Senate has assured that her formation is not favorable to the investigative commission that the PP will create in the Upper House to talk about the amnesty, pointing out that they do not see the point in opening this process when there are sufficient judicial resources if the PP considers it appropriate.

Furthermore, he has maintained that if his party believes it is appropriate to introduce any amendment to the amnesty law, it will do so within the parliamentary process, but emphasizing his rejection of the creation of the investigative commission.

Regarding the meeting that Pedro Sánchez will hold with the former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont, the PNV spokesperson believes that it is "natural" after the agreement reached with his party, recalling that he has already met with the president of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar.

And finally, Beltrán de Heredia has commented on the absolute majority that Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party has in the Senate: "With the PP knowing that it is the winner no matter what, because it has the field, it sets the rules of the game, and the rest of us, if he leaves us a little while in a corner, we'll play, but only that."
