The percentage of Spaniards at risk of poverty or exclusion decreases to 26%

   MADRID, 24 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The percentage of the population at risk of poverty or social exclusion decreased to 26% in 2022, almost two points less than the previous year (27.8%), according to the Living Conditions Survey, published this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The reduction of the AROPE rate occurred in its three components. Thus, the percentage of the population at risk of poverty fell from 21.7% to 20.4%; that of people residing in homes with severe material and social deprivation decreased six tenths, up to 7.7%; and that of the population in a situation of low employment intensity went from 11.6% to 8.6%.

By age group, the AROPE rate fell one point among those under 16 years of age, and 2.7 points in the group from 16 to 64 years of age. On the contrary, it rose 0.8 points among those aged 65 and over.
