The Palestinian Authority denounces the "continuous attacks" of Israel against the Esplanade of the Mosques

MADRID, 9 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Palestinian Authority has reproached Israel this Sunday for the "continuous attacks" against Muslim holy places, in particular against the Esplanade of the Mosques of Jerusalem coinciding with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

"We condemn the daily attacks on holy sites and worshipers during the holy month of Ramadan as unacceptable acts that will inflame the region and drive it to the abyss," said Palestinian spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina.

The spokesman has indicated that the Israeli government is responsible for any possible deterioration of the situation as a result of these "continuous attacks" in East Jerusalem.

"The Israeli occupation is trying to break the will of our people, but it will not discourage us. Our people resist and defend their land and their sanctity, whatever the price," he warned.

"Holy Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the State of Palestine. All the Israeli measures supported by the United States will not achieve security or stability," he stressed.

Thousands of faithful Muslims pray these days of Ramadan in the Al Aqsa Mosque, on the Esplanade of Mosques in Jerusalem, the third Muslim holy place.

This year Ramadan also coincides with the Jewish Easter, so there are also thousands of faithful of this confession who pray at the Wailing Wall, the last vestiges of the Temple of Solomon that support one of the sides of the Esplanade of the Mosques.
