The number of self-employed people with disabilities increased by 2.3% in 2023, to 25,170

MADRID, 3 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Self-employed workers with a disability equal to or greater than 33% belonging to the Special Regime for the Self-Employed of Social Security increased by 2.29% in 2023 compared to the previous year, up to 25,170 employees, according to data provided by the General Security Treasury Social to the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (Cermi).

Last year's increase, which was 564 self-employed workers with disabilities compared to 2022, is lower than that experienced in the previous period, in which the growth was 3%, that is, 717 more workers.

In addition, of the total number of self-employed workers with disabilities as of December 31, 2023, 9,328 were women and 15,842 were men, which for Cermi means that the difference by sex is "very pronounced" to the detriment of women with disabilities.

In his opinion, the increase in 2023 indicates that entrepreneurship, despite its globally modest terms, continues to be an "attractive" path of labor inclusion for people with disabilities, which "each year climbs positions in its contribution to general creation." of employment for this population group".

Faced with this "positive trend", Cermi demands that the Government "strengthen the incentives and bonuses for self-employed people with disabilities", making them "more reinforced for women", with the aim of expanding the path to access to employment and allowing growth. much higher in the coming years.
