The editorial considers it a better option to ask for a vote for Pontón's nationalists as they have better electoral prospects.

Diario Red, the media directed by the former Podemos leader Pablo Iglesias, defends in an editorial that the best decision of the purple party militancy in Galicia is to reject the coalition with Sumar and ask for the vote for the BNG.

Through that forum, published at 2:35 p.m. this Thursday, it states that those enrolled in the training in Galicia must decide whether or not to accept the pre-agreement offered by Sumar to the Galician leadership of the purples and details that its regional coordinator, Borja San Ramón , "does well" to launch this consultation so that what is determined has "the greatest democratic legitimacy."

After emphasizing that asking the militancy in a binding manner is a symptom of the "political health" of the organizations, the Diario Red editorial states that this pre-agreement of Sumar a Podemos "recommits all the mistakes that Yolanda Díaz already committed regarding the coalition" for the general elections of 23J.

"In fact, the offer is even worse. Not only is the name of Podemos completely erased from the candidacy and the head of the list (Marta Lois) is re-imposed without establishing any debate or decision mechanism for this, but This time not even any position that could have acceptable chances of being elected on February 18 is being offered to the purple ones," he elaborates.

He also argues that taking into account that in the last Galician elections in 2020 the coalition formed by Podemos, Izquierda Unida and Anova did not obtain representation in the Galician Parliament, "it does not seem responsible to continue with the same dynamic of exclusion of Podemos by Sumar which has already led to the reduction of space with respect to Unidas Podemos at the state level".

With this context and a Galician electoral system that places a high threshold of 5% in each province to achieve representation, the Diario Red editorial states that "the most effective thing to try to produce this political change in Galicia and facilitate a progressive and left-wing government in the community it is not that Podemos Galicia signs an agreement with Sumar that, even managing to get its voters out on the streets on election Sunday despite the disappointment, it is very difficult for it to convert the votes into deputies."

"Having confirmed the inability on the part of Sumar to reverse a dynamic of veto and exclusion that is leading to a disintegration and a shrinking of the space, the best decision that the purple bases can make between today and tomorrow is to appeal to the intelligence of the Galician voter of the left that knows that each electoral event has different rules depending on the area of ​​representation that is chosen and, in this case, for February 18, reject the coalition with Sumar and ask for the vote for the BNG," he added.

CONSULTATION ENDS ON FRIDAY

This Wednesday, the coordinator of Podemos Galicia announced that the consultation with the registered members of the purple formation in which two lists for primaries are voted on will also subject to consultation the proposal to sign a coalition with Sumar Galicia, to which they will be able to access in full transparent.

The terms of the coalition pre-agreement between Sumar, Podemos and IU under the Sumar Galicia brand reserve for the purple formation the second place in the constituency for A Coruña and the first for Lugo, as well as the third for Orense and the fourth for Pontevedra.

It also specifies that " Podemos Galicia is committed to remaining in the parliamentary group throughout the legislature" while the head of the list, as well as the spokesperson in the Galician parliament, are reserved for Sumar.

THE STATE DIRECTION: REGISTRATIONS DECIDE

Once the pre-agreement was transcended, social networks were once again filled with comments about the convenience of a Sumar and Podemos pact and even people who identify with the purple brand have spoken in the same sense as the media directed by Iglesias. One of the voices that had done so previously and that disassociated itself from Podemos is the former head of this group in Galicia, Carmen Santos, who although she is not a militant, linked herself months ago to specific support for Ana Pontón's candidacy ( BNG) to the Presidency of the Xunta.

On this Thursday morning, the state leadership of Podemos has distanced itself from this agreement, stating that the decision is the exclusive responsibility of the regional leadership and those registered in said community, who will decide whether they endorse it or not.

"It is not up to the state management to decide what agreement the registered members of an autonomous community have to decide. It is that organization ( Podemos Galicia ) that autonomously has to propose, or at least consult, the registered members about whether agreements should be made or not (...) That is what they are doing and from there we will see what they decide," co-spokesperson Isa Serra explained this Thursday.

Podemos broke with Sumar in Congress and moved to the Mixed Group, defending that within the plurinational group it was impossible to do politics and that with this movement they preserved their autonomy.
