The map of Podemos and IU at 28M: alliances in the majority of CCAA, the doubt of La Rioja and separated in Asturias and Aragón

They will also run in coalition in most major cities

Podemos and IU have forged coalitions for the autonomous elections of 28-M in nine autonomous communities and speed up the deadlines to try a confluence also in La Rioja, now the main unknown is whether a joint list will be reflected before the deadline to present coalitions. Meanwhile, in Aragón and Asturias they will foreseeably go again separately, as has happened since 2015, according to data compiled by Europa Press.

The two main forces of the confederal space already have closed electoral agreements in the Valencian Community, Madrid, Murcia, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Navarra, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha and Cantabria, both at the regional level and in a large part of the local level.

In addition, it has also forged pacts in regions where regional elections are not held and municipal ones such as Catalonia (under the umbrella of the 'commons'), and in Euskadi (also for elections in provincial councils) which also includes Alianza Verde (the environmental party of UP) and Equo.

Joint candidacies are the general trend in the large municipalities of Galicia and Castilla y León, while the map in Andalusia shows agreements in Cádiz, Huelva, Almería, Córdoba, Málaga and Seville (in the latter three with a broad front of forces who already make up the 'For Andalusia' coalition), with the disparate note of Granada and Jaén where the panorama approaches fragmentation.

On the other hand, in some municipal squares the confluence is broader and even includes Más País, the formation led by Íñigo Errejón, as is the case in Ciudad Real, Córdoba, Málaga or Seville, but not in alliances at the regional level where it is present. Can.

The tension caused by the negotiation of the 'For Andalucía' coalition in the last regional elections of this community, as well as that related to the Sumar process, have not made a dent in the confluence of Podemos and IU for 28M, since they have strengthened their alliances with positive reviews in both directions.

In this way, the electoral map on the left independent of the PSOE is almost defined with some coalitions at the regional level whose lists are headed by the majority of the purple party. The main unknown now is La Rioja, which now focuses the contacts between Podemos and IU to achieve a last attempt at a unitary list, both regional and at the municipal level.

Paradoxically, La Rioja was one of the first autonomies where the will to merge was announced, but it has not yet materialized in the absence of the deadline to register the coalitions at 28M at midnight this Friday.

For this region, IU demands that the deputy Henar Moreno head the regional list, defending that this was pre-agreed at the regional level, and the parliamentarian herself has criticized that the state leadership of the purple party is playing "dirty" in the negotiations. However, she assured that they remain open until the end of the term to register coalitions and that offers and counteroffers have been exchanged on the confluence.

In Aragon it is taken for granted that Podemos and IU will go separately and the scenario will be of fragmentation on the left, where the Aragonese Chunta also attends. Both formations will also compete in Asturias, where IU has articulated a confluence with Más País while Podemos, plunged into a strong internal crisis, reproaches that its offer of unity has not been met.

However, the 28M electoral appointment has meant an increase in the territorial confluences of Podemos and IU, since they have reissued the existing ones and have been amplified to Murcia, Navarra, the Canary Islands and Cantabria.

In the case of Navarre, a list of unity has been achieved between Podemos, Izquierda Unida, Batzarre, Alianza Verde, Verdes Equo and a group of independents, under the brand name 'Contigo Navarra'. In Extremadura the coalition is reissued (with the name United for Extremadura) and will also be the main ballot to the left of the PSOE, as in Cantabria and Castilla-La Mancha.

Meanwhile, in the Canary Islands the attempt for a unitary candidacy failed, which led to an alliance of Podemos, IU and 'Sí se puede', which will compete electorally with the Drago Project, the brand promoted by the former leader of the purple party Alberto Rodríguez, which in turn has an agreement with Verdes Equo.

In Murcia the two main forces of the confederal space make up a candidacy, which will have as a rival to the left of the PSOE Más Región, the regional brand of Más País, which will go in coalition with Verdes Equo.

The fragmentation of the left will also occur in two relevant places, such as Madrid where Unidas Podemos is competing for the electorate with Más Madrid, headed by Mónica García. Thus, in the Community of Valencia Compromís and Podemos and IU will also be measured in the progressive space. In the Balearic Islands there will also be two candidacies to the left of the PSOE, Més per Mallorca and the one made up of the two main parties of United We Can.

At the municipal level, the trend of alliances is also taking place in Castilla y León with agreements in Burgos, León, Ávila, Palencia, Salamanca and Valladolid (under the brand 'Valladolid takes the floor'), while it has not been completed in Soria. In addition, the unique case of Zamora is confirmed, where IU governs the town and will run alone with a list headed by Mayor Francisco Guarido.

Regarding Galicia, Podemos and IU also show harmony in the main cities and will attend together, for example, in Coruña, Lugo, Orense and Vigo.

In a tense climate between Podemos and the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, after the launch of her candidacy, the purples will hold a great rally this Saturday in Zaragoza where the ministers Ione Belarra and Irene Montero will cover a large group of Podemos candidates at these elections.

In addition, the formation has demanded Díaz's support for the space candidates for the 28M electoral campaign, where they will compete with parties with which Sumar maintains contacts for a broad confluence to the general elections.
