The indicators of the Covid increase in recent dates in Catalonia, Madrid and the Basque Country

The coronavirus indicators have grown slightly in recent times in several regions, with a rise in mild hospitalizations in the Basque Country, while in Catalonia an upward trend has been registered in the last week. Regarding the incidence, in Madrid the number of new cases has doubled in the last month.

The Government stopped issuing specific reports last July after the health crisis situation caused by Covid-19 ended, although there are several autonomous communities that do report their coronavirus data weekly or monthly, especially what have to do with hospitalizations.

In this context, Catalonia reported last Tuesday that the number of people admitted with Covid-19 in conventional beds continued on an "upward trend", with 489 people hospitalized, 36 more than the previous week.

As for those admitted to Catalan hospitals due to Covid-19, 82% of hospitalized people are over 60 years of age and admissions to intensive care units (ICU) remain stable, with 12 people in critical beds due to this disease. .

In Madrid, the number of new cases of Covid-19 has doubled in the last four weeks among the population over 60 years of age in the region, where a cumulative 14-day incidence of 158.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants is reached.

Specifically, the last week of July (from 24 to 30) closed with 742 cases and a seven-day cumulative incidence of 46.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while in the last seven days (from August 14 to 20 ) 1,418 cases have been recorded, with a cumulative incidence of 88.2.

In this way, in the last week, for the population aged 60 or over, the incidence has increased by 26.2% (from 1,124 to 1,418 cases, with 294 more cases), compared to the previous week, where there was a increase of 21.1%.

And in the Basque Country, there is a rebound in covid due to the crowds typical of summer and holidays, with more than a hundred hospitalizations, the majority for mild cases, according to the Basque Government, which appeals to "tranquility". because it is "a peak" compared to the lowest figures of the pandemic.

From the Basque Executive they point out that, when there are crowds and prevention measures are relaxed, cases increase.
