Spain surpasses the host and repeats the podium in the World Cup
MADRID, 29 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -
The Spanish men's handball team climbed to the podium of the 2023 World Cup by beating hosts Sweden (36-39) in the duel for bronze this Sunday at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, a clash that they owned in a full entrance to the second time.
The 'Hispanics' are still subscribers to the medals with a second consecutive bronze after the one achieved in Egypt 2021, to extend a continuous signing among the best that began right at the 2011 World Cup in Sweden. Jordi Ribera's men suffered without a good defense in the first half with the Swedes dominating 22-18 at halftime.
Spain's reaction was to lead 25-27 after six minutes of the second half. Rodrigo Corrales demonstrated the luxury of the Spanish goal by replacing Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas and the direction of Alex Dujshebaev and a recital by Adrià Figueras (9 of 9 in goals) led the 'Hispanics' to their tenth metal in the last 12 years, for the 18 who have his historical record.
