Planas considers the protests of the farmers in Salamanca "extremely serious"

MADRID, 7 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will publish this Thursday in the Official State Gazette (BOE) a new order that will annul the one that was published two weeks ago to limit the movement of cattle in Castilla y León, so that will be allowed again after the latest events in the management of bovine tuberculosis.

The Junta de Castilla y León allowed the requirements for sanitary control of bovine tuberculosis to be made more flexible, which produced the reaction of the Government, which filed a contentious-administrative appeal to the Superior Court of Justice of Castilla y León not to implement this relaxation. Finally, it did not start up and provoked violent protests from farmers.

Prior to the debate to validate the decree on aid to combat drought in the Permanent Deputation of Congress, Luis Planas took the opportunity to make statements to the media and give his assessment of the events that occurred in Castilla y León.

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, has described as "extremely serious" the events that occurred in the delegation of the Junta de Castilla y León in Salamanca caused by the management of bovine tuberculosis.

"The first thing I want to say, on behalf of the Government, is that we reject any act of violence, wherever it comes from," Planas emphatically remarked, who has also shown his "unreserved" support for veterinary professionals.

The latter, said the minister, are being "objected to pressure and even coercion." And it is that, Planas has accused the Government of PP and Vox in Castilla y León of "creating a problem" and even of skipping the health regulations of the European Union and Spain.

"Legality has been restored in order to protect the whole of the farmers, of the whole of Spain and also of Castilla y León (...) The reality of scientific evidence and safety cannot be avoided," Planas stressed.
