The Government replies to Israel that in a full democracy like Spain political positions can be expressed freely

MADRID, 16 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government has "flatly" rejected the "falsehoods expressed" in the statement from the Israeli Embassy about some of its members and assures that it does not accept unfounded insinuations about its ministers, and any politician can "freely express positions" as a representative of a party.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs alleges that the position of the Government as a whole with respect to the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas is clear: "Outright condemnation, demand for immediate and unconditional release of hostages and recognition of Israel's right to defend itself within of the limits set by International Law and International Humanitarian Law," he explains.

Thus, the Government as a whole has repeatedly expressed the need to distinguish the Palestinian population from the terrorist group Hamas, to protect the civilian population of Gaza and the "imperative" need to maintain the basic supplies essential for the well-being of said population.

Finally, the statement states that the Executive reiterates that the only viable solution to achieve a situation of peace and stability in the region is the solution of two States that coexist in peace and security, "as has been endorsed by the United Nations."
