The Council of Ministers this Tuesday approved the line of guarantees of 2,500 million euros through the Official Credit Institute (ICO) to access the entry of the purchase of the first home for young people and families with dependent minors.

"It is an agreement with the ICO that we are going to close after this agreement of the Council of Ministers to which the financial entities with which we have already held conversations will have to adhere later," indicated the Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez, during the press conference of the Council of Ministers.

Thus, he has detailed that it is a line of guarantees aimed mainly at young people no more than 35 years old and families with minors in their care and with income that is 4.5 times the IPREM, that is, with incomes of up to 37,800 euros. , which will be modified if you are a couple or have minors in charge.

To access it, the Housing Owner has indicated that you must be a natural person, be over 18 years of age and have legal residence in Spain in an accredited and uninterrupted manner for the two years prior to applying for the loan. Furthermore, you cannot have assets greater than 100,000 euros.

In this way, the Government will guarantee 20% of the initial down payment on a home as long as the applicant meets all the requirements. Rodríguez estimates that at least 50,000 families and young people will be reached.

"The ultimate objective of the Ministry is that to access decent housing no Spaniard has to dedicate more than 30% of their income," he stressed.
