The fire in Valencia de Alcántara reaches 350 hectares and forces the evacuation of two rural houses

CÁCERES, 8 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Extremadura Forest Fire Fighting Plan (Infoex) has reported that the fire originated in Valencia de Alcántara (Cáceres), where level 1 of danger was activated this Monday at 10:00 p.m., has already reached 350 hectares, if well the measurement will still take time to be final.

In a statement, the Junta de Extremadura has indicated that the works during today have consisted of the consolidation of the perimeter, having stabilized to a large extent. However, it has clarified that work in the area is "very difficult due to the high level of danger and lack of access", so Infoex does not rule out reactivations during the night.

At the site of the fire, up to 14 Infoex units have worked, with four technicians and four agents of the natural environment. In addition, several teams from the Special Services for Fire Prevention and Extinction (SEPEI), from the Cáceres Provincial Council and, during the afternoon, firefighters from Portugal have collaborated.

Likewise, support has been received from the Forest Fire Reinforcement Brigade (BRIF) of Pinofranqueado and from the media of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO). In total, about 150 troops. In addition, eight aerial vehicles from Infoex and five from the Ministry of Ecological Transition have been dispatched for the fire, which will leave the area at sunset.

As a precaution, the Civil Protection technical staff has coordinated the evacuation of two rural houses.
