The Electoral Board files Vox for its campaign 'Sánchez destroys Spain' before 23J

MADRID, 4 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Central Electoral Board (JEC) has opened a sanction file against Vox, which can end with a fine of 3,000 euros, for the dissemination of propaganda under the slogan "Sánchez destroys Spain" before the official start of the electoral campaign for the elections. generals of July 23, and which also did not include the Vox logo.

The resolution of the Electoral Board, collected by Europa Press, argues that Vox breached the LOREG, which prohibits the dissemination of electoral propaganda from the time the elections are called until the official start of the campaign, fifteen days before the elections.

The formation led by Santiago Abascal inserted this advertisement in the digital 'OkDiario' under the slogan 'Sánchez destroys Spain'. Linked to different areas such as work, housing or energy, he denounced "allegedly mismanagement by the Government and without visible reference to the political formation that has contracted the advertising insertion", according to the JEC.

"Consequently, we are faced with advertising insertions aimed at attracting votes that have been hired by the political formation," concludes the arbitration body, which rejects Vox's arguments that this campaign was part of the ordinary activity of a political party .

"The fact that the voter's vote is not expressly requested is not a reason not to consider as electoral propaganda any activity that directly or indirectly seeks to attract votes," replies the JEC.

As he underlines, the Vox campaign included slogans and messages with "the intention of persuading the voter" seeking "their reaction against" the socialist candidate, Pedro Sánchez. This activity, he maintains, "would be legitimate if it were done within the party's profile or page", but not through a commercial contract.

But in addition, he denounces reiteration by Vox, who already reminded these terms in the previous electoral campaign in May for the municipal and regional elections and also did the Madrid Zone Electoral Board this June.

For all these reasons, the Electoral Board agrees to initiate a disciplinary file against the person who within Vox is "most responsible" for the decision on advertising contracts during the electoral period and requested their identification, which the party already notified a few days later.

The agency advances that this natural person may end up sanctioned for infringing article 53 of the LOREG with a fine of between 300 and 3,000 euros, although if they take advantage of reductions due to recognition of responsibility and voluntary payment, it may be 2,400 or 1,800 euros.
