The Dia Group attributes the sale of oil with its expiration date to "specific human error"

The Dia Group has attributed to a "specific human error" the fact that in one of its establishments in the Valladolid town of Medina del Campo the best-before date, already expired in several bottles of extra virgin olive oil exposed for sale, as denounced by the Facua Castilla y León association this Monday.

In the same way, the Dia Group has indicated, in a statement collected by Europa Press, that what happened was due to an "unintentional" error in a single store of the 2,500 Dia outlets in Spain.

Likewise, it has indicated that after receiving the alert from Facua and by virtue of its "firm commitment" to the quality of all its products, the product has been immediately withdrawn from the aforementioned point of sale.

Facua Castilla y León has denounced this Monday an establishment of the Dia chain before the Territorial Service of Industry, Commerce and Economy of Valladolid, a body dependent on the Junta de Castilla y León.

The association has detected this practice in the establishment located in the Plaza del Mercado in the Valladolid town of Medina del Campo. Specifically, along with several bottles of olive oil with the best before date in sight, there were others interspersed with said information hidden under a sticker.

By removing this barcode label from these bottles, it has been verified that they had a best-before date of May 2023, despite the fact that they were still on sale in July 2023, the association has detailed through a statement.
